MapPairsdate® Microsatellite Markers
Overview of Ideal Genetic Markers for Linkage Analysis
MapPairs® microsatellite markers are PCR primers that flank a simple sequence repeat (SSR). SSRs occur in most
higher eukaryotes and can serve as markers for genetic analysis and positional cloning (1-4). The length of polymorphisms
associated with SSRs have been utilized in model organisms to localize multiple quantitative trait loci (QTLs) ascribed to
complex polygenic diseases (5-7). A variety of labeling methods are available. A single pair of MapPairs® markers
includes flanking primers, suspended in solution and ready-to-use. Annealing temperatures, denaturation temperatures,
and Mg2+ concentration may need to be optimized for best results.
